Daniel Del Gobbo, Consultant

DANIEL DEL GOBBO has taught negotiation theory and practice for over ten years. Currently, Daniel is an Assistant Professor at the University of Windsor Faculty of Law, where he researches and teaches civil procedure, dispute resolution, legal ethics, and restorative justice. Before coming to Windsor, Daniel was a Banting Postdoctoral Fellow at the McGill University Faculty of Law and Research Fellow at the Restorative Lab at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University from 2021 to 2023. He served as a Visiting Scholar at Columbia Law School in Spring 2019. Previously, Daniel served as an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University from 2015 to 2019, where he taught two dispute resolution courses to over 100 students each year, including the law school’s flagship Lawyer as Negotiator course for which he received multiple awards for teaching excellence and promoting equity in the classroom.

A former litigator, Daniel’s research is focused on the use of negotiation, mediation, restorative justice, and dispute systems design in promoting substantive equality for women, LGBTQ2 peoples, and other historically marginalized groups in Canada and the United States. He has published and lectured extensively in these areas, with major papers appearing in the UBC Law Review, Dalhousie Law Review, Canadian Bar Review, Ohio State Journal of Dispute Resolution, Osgoode Hall Law Journal, and the Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution. His research has been featured in such media outlets as The Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, National Post, the Conversation, CP24, and CBC Radio. He has presented his work at over 30 academic conferences worldwide. Frequently consulted for his human rights expertise, Daniel has collaborated with such organizations as the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund, International Committee of the Red Cross, and Status of Women Canada on civil procedure, ADR, and restorative justice issues.

Daniel earned his Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.) at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law in 2021, where he was a Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholar, SSHRC Doctoral Fellow, and Viscount Bennett Fellow. Previously, he earned his Master of Laws (LL.M.) at Harvard Law School in 2015, where he won two Dean’s Scholar prizes for academic excellence, his Juris Doctor (J.D.) at Osgoode Hall Law School in 2011 and his Honours Bachelor of Arts (B.A. Hons.) at Queen’s University in 2008.
