Esther Lin, Consultant

Esther Lin is a mediator and organizational consultant at The Mediation Group (TMG). She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her B.A. in Philosophy from Stanford University. After law school, Esther clerked for the Honorable George A. O'Toole, Jr., in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and she went on to practice intellectual property litigation at McDermott Will & Emery. During her years as a federal judicial clerk and trial lawyer, she witnessed firsthand how protracted litigation can so often produce hostility, drain financial and emotional reserves, and hinder creative problem solving.

That experience sparked a desire to help people work through conflict in more flexible, dynamic, and holistic ways. Esther now focuses her energies on conflict management and resolution outside of court, having completed a Massachusetts mediation training program in 2017 and a fellowship program at TMG focusing on business and workplace mediations. She also serves as a volunteer mediator in the small claims sessions of the Boston Municipal Court.

Esther lives in the Boston area with her husband and two daughters. An active member of her church, Esther has a special interest in working with faith-based organizations and communities. Outside her work in this field, Esther is a freelance modern calligrapher and musician. She is fluent in Korean.
