Paul Yoo, Consultant

Paul Yoo is a Senior Vice President for Ventures and Private Equity at United Talent Agency, where he structures complex private investments in media, technology, and consumer product sectors.  He was previously a Partner at Transom Consulting and M&A Services, where he led the Consumer Practice and specialized in serving private equity firms in their commercial due diligences.  Paul has extensive operating experience running celebrity-backed consumer product companies as CEO of This Saves Lives (Kristin Bell), and as Head of Business Development for The Honest Company (Jessica Alba). Prior to working in this space, Paul was a Senior Engagement Manager at McKinsey, where he focused on multi-party negotiations, crisis response, organizational transformations, and growth strategy for government agencies, Fortune 100 companies, and non-profit organizations. A sample of his work includes, negotiating with major airline unions for one of the largest domestic carriers, a post-merger integration of leading food distributors, the sale of a satellite TV company to a top telecom, and leading polio eradication efforts in Africa by organizing seven international organizations under an emergency operation center. Paul has also served in various national security related government positions, and was a leading expert on North Korea’s negotiation tactics.  

Paul has researched, taught, and practiced negotiations for over 15 years. He was a teaching assistant for Harvard Law School’s Negotiation Workshop, International Negotiations course, and the Harvard Negotiation Institute.  At HLS, Paul studied facilitation and dispute systems design, participated in the Harvard Negotiation and Mediation Clinical Program, and was part of the Harvard Negotiators. He was also a founding member and Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard National Security Journal. Prior to HLS, Paul graduated with honors from Stanford University, where he continues to be an active advisor and volunteer.
